This work examines the advances and challenges of the Dominican Republic in the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action (1995), highlighting the policies, legal reforms, and institutional initiatives developed to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment. Through a data-driven analysis grounded in regulatory frameworks, it evaluates compliance with the 12 critical areas of concern established under this international commitment.
Although significant progress is acknowledged in areas such as political participation, legislation against gender-based violence, and institutional strengthening, the study also reveals persistent structural gaps that particularly affect women in vulnerable situations. The work offers recommendations aimed at consolidating more inclusive public policies and contributing to the achievement of sustainable development and gender equity in the country.
