The constructed wetlands as a nature-based solution for wastewater treatment: questions and answers

The manual is based on the experience of the constructed wetlands program developed by the Fondo de Agua Yaque del Norte in collaboration with Plan Yaque, which by 2025 has built 28 constructed wetlands thanks to the contributions of all its partners through the Philanthropic Trust. These contributions ensure the sustainability of the program and its results, along with co-financing from the Fundación Popular, Corporación Zona Franca Santiago, Ministerio de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales, and CORAASAN.

This guide was developed within the framework of the environmental education project Community Training in the Sustainable Management of Domestic Wastewater Treatment Systems Based on Constructed Wetlands, implemented by Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) as the winner of the Seventh Call for Environmental Education Projects funded by the Fondo de Agua Yaque del Norte, with co-financing from Fundación Propagas and the Ministerio de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales.
